RESEARCH ACTIVITY

Dr. Marcella Chiari, leads the Analytical Microsystem group at Scitec CNR. Her team develops micro analytical techniques for genomics and proteomics. She is active in different projects, organized around the following themes: 1) miniaturized automated systems for human diagnostics and protein/DNA analysis 2) functional polymer coatings, 3) chemical aspects of microarray technology. Dr. Chiari has an internationally recognized know-how in the production of polymeric coatings for microchip electrophoresis and microarray on different materials including glass, silicon oxide, polydimethylsiloxane, polyethylene and gold. The team, comprising organic, bioorganic and computational chemists, biochemists and biotechnologists, carries out researches on the various aspects of the microarray technology, from surface modification trough polymer coating, to development of clinically relevant bioassays. Author of more than 220 publications in International peer reviewed journals and numerous patent.
