Synthesis and reactivity of heterocyclic compounds and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons as semiconductor materials for Organic Electronics; structure-property analysis and correlations. Development of systems for application in light absorption or emission and investigation of their optical transitions and photophysical behavior. Synthesis and study of organometallic complexes based on Ir and Pt as OLED emitters with particular attention for emissions in the NIR region. Photophysics and photochemistry of organic and metallorganic systems; study on radiative and non-radiative processes in steady state and time resolved in time. Realization of engineered thin films (such as coatings and electroactive systems) using high vacuum deposition techniques and organic epitaxy.Realization of multi-layer OLED prototypes and study of the emissive characteristics and degenerative processes
