CHEMISTRY FOR LIFE SCIENCES
Molecular tools and technologies for precision medicine
SCITEC applies a multidisciplinary approach to precision medicine investigations by connecting competences and approaches in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology and organic synthesis with computational chemistry and -omics sciences either to develop new technological approaches and new (bio)materials, including hydrogels and nanoparticles, or to investigate the molecular bases of disease onset and progression and their inter-individual variability, to discover biomarkers and new therapeutic targets.
In this perspective it is worthy of mention the increasing prominence of Extracellular Vesicles for their potential role in diagnostics (liquid biopsy), therapies, as drug carriers in delivery, and for regenerative medicine.
