MATERIAL ANALYSIS
Non invasive investigations are carried out in situ through advanced portable systems able to cover the wide spectral range which goes from X-rays to mid-IR. SCITEC is one of the providers of the Mobile laboratories MOLAB, one of the accesses providers offered by the European research infrastructure for Heritage Science ERIHS. Dedicated analytical strategies -based on a multimodal approach with single point and hyperspectral imaging methods- are time to time optimized for solving specific issues inherent the material characterization of irreplaceable and precious objects of our Cultural heritage.
Micro-scale characterization though conventional and synchrotron radiation (SR) sources is also performed for in depth study of the heritage material microstructure and composition and for investigating reference materials and model systems. The spectral interpretation is supported by computational modeling and chemometrics. Data management and storage is carried out following the FAIR principles of interoperability.
