Design and development of RNA drugs in different therapeutic areas
Abstract: Our research addresses the challenge of targeting RNA-binding proteins to develop innovative therapies for cancer, genetic disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases. We focus on understanding how these proteins regulate gene expression through their interactions with RNA molecules, particularly in the context of microRNA pathways and post-transcriptional control mechanisms. By investigating the structural and dynamic properties of key regulatory proteins, we aim to identify small molecules capable of selectively modulating dysregulated RNA-protein interactions. Our approach combines computational modeling with experimental validation to discover lead compounds and elucidate their mechanisms of action. This work is conducted within the National Center for Gene Therapy and Drugs Based on RNA Technology (PNRR), where we contribute computational expertise and drug discovery strategies to advance precision medicine across multiple disease areas.
