The research activities are aimed at studying the molecular basis of the development of muscular dystrophies. Proteins involved in disease development are expressed in cellular models to analyze how pathological mutations affect their function and localization. The main interest is focused at the extracellular matrix proteins and their receptors whose gene expression and regulation are also analyzed in a context of inflammatory stress.
