: Innovative water and CO2 REDuction photo-CATalysts by computational design - PHOTOCAT
Abstract: This project aims at developing a radically novel class of photoactive semiconductors with unique optical and electronic properties. In particular, the main object of PHOTOCAT is to provide water-stable lead-free metal halide perovskite (MHP) materials to be employed in energy production and photoreactions, such as water splitting and carbon dioxide reduction.
Specific objects of the PHOTOCAT project will be:
i) design and theoretical characterization of water-stable lead-free MHPs and composites;
ii) computational study of the basic mechanisms underpinning their stability in solution and catalytic activity;
iii) demonstrate and optimize their photocatalytic activity for sustainable solar-to-chemical conversion, with a specific focus on H2 generation and CO2 reduction.
